Taylor Family Farm, established in 1933 by M.J. Taylor, began with a commitment to farm 297 acres in Cook County based on a simple belief: work honestly and care for the land as you would for family. The farm was built on the principles of stewardship, resilience, and purpose, evolving alongside agriculture itself by producing a variety of crops, including vegetables, row crops, hay, and cattle. M.J.'s son, Bruce Taylor, expanded the operation and reinforced sustainable practices, always aiming to leave the land better than he found it.
The responsibility was passed to the third generation, Phillip Taylor, who struck a balance between modern agriculture and time-honored traditions, guided by faith, pride in the land, and a commitment to the community. His wife, Pam Taylor, played an essential role behind the scenes, ensuring the farm thrived through every season.
Today, fourth-generation farmer Austin Taylor carries on this legacy. What started as 297 acres has transformed into a 1,850-acre working farm, primarily dedicated to a beef cattle operation with around 750 head of cattle.
